The Mountain View Police Department has re-established its lateral entry program for qualified police officers. The lateral program includes training and orientation consisting of an abbreviated in-house academy of two weeks. The training program will cover areas where MVPD training exceeds POST mandated training. Your training will be conducted in respect to your standing as an experienced peace officer.
Lateral candidates must meet all of the requirements for entry-level Mountain View Police Officer, have 40 semester units or 60 quarter units from an accredited college, must possess a valid California Basic POST Certificate, and must have been employed as a law enforcement officer in good standing in the State of California within the last three years. You must complete all MVPD hiring components, including: a Personal History Statement (PHS), a Department Interview, a Background Investigation, a Polygraph Examination, a Medical Evaluation, Written Psychological Test, and a Psychological Interview and Evaluation.
